THE OPERATION COMMANDER VISITS SATCEN
Madrid – On July 1st, Rear Admiral Fabio Agostini, Commander of Operation EUNAVFOR MED IRINI, visited the European Union Satellite Center (SatCen).
The SatCen Director, Ambassador Sorin Ducaru, welcomed the Operation Commander and provided an overview of the Center and its mission.
Operation IRINI’s Commander has been informed about Center’s wide spectrum of operational geospatial analysis services as well as other space-related capabilities with a specific focus on the support to EU Operations.
Rear Admiral Agostini had the opportunity to illustrate to the Center’s staff, the results achieved so far by Operation EUNAFOR MED IRINI, highlighting the excellent support provided by the SatCen that was crucial in identifying a number of illegal activities in the Area of Operation.
The visit was an excellent possibility to exchanged views and ideas in order to further improve the collaboration, highlighting the importance of SatCen services provision for the success of Operation IRINI.
