Change of the Force Commander of Task Force 464
Today, 4th October 24 Change of command of Task Force 464. The ceremony chaired by the Operation Commander, Rear Admiral Valentino RINALDI, took place at Taranto Naval Base.
The Greek Commodore Prokopios CHARITOS, appointed by the European Union’s Political and Security Committee (PSC), succeeded Italian Admiral Armando SIMI, who led the European Task Force (TF 464) for the past six months. Rear Admiral Valentino RINALDI expressed his gratitude to Rear Admiral SIMI and the personnel involved in the operation, for their dedication and professionalism during an intense period of operations. 
He also emphasized: “Operation IRINI continues to impartially and effectively support the implementation of the UN Security Council’s arms embargo on Libya, as well as making an important contribution to countering oil and human smuggling networks”.
