Medal Ceremony in Irini Headquarters
On January 8, Irini Operation Commander, Admiral Fabio Agostini, on behalf of EU High Representative for Foreing Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, awarded 7 officers from different EU Member States that served in Irini headquarters in Rome with the Defence Policy Service Medal for Planning and Support.
This award is given to staff working directly in support of an EU operation / mission.
“Thank you for your great job – said Admiral Agostini during the ceremony in the Flags Hall – You go back home, conscious of have being part of EU Defence, where every brick in the wall counts. The results we achieved in 2020 were not possible without the effort of you all.”
Irini Headquarters staff is fed by the contribution of more than 20 MSs, which regularly provide their military representatives in Rome.
This allows Irini to have an efficient combined and joint staff, who support the crew deployed in the Central Mediterranean.
